The Idaho Athletic Trainers Association is governed by an elected body of President, Secretary/Treasurer, Past-President and 4 Board of Directors.  The President, Secretary/Treasurer and Past-President serve a 3 year term, with the opportunity to serve a second 3 year term if approved by the membership.

The Board of Directors, who can serve 2 consecutive 4 year terms, represent a different geographic area of Idaho:  North Idaho, District 1; Southwest Idaho, District 2; Southcentral Idaho, District 3; Southeast Idaho, District 4. The IATA has in place several standing committees to meet the various needs of its membership. The IATA's committee chairs also represent Idaho to the Northwest Athletic Trainers' Association. The IATA nominates members for the Board of Athletic Training and to the Idaho High School Activities Association Sports Medicine Advisory Committee.
